HEY FELLOW WRITER. GO BACK UP YOUR BOOK. IN LIKE. FIVE DIFFERENT PLACES. I’M NOT KIDDING.
HERE’S A SCENARIO. IMAGINE YOU’VE GONE OUT TO LUNCH AND WHILE YOU’RE OUT YOUR LAPTOP GETS ROBBED. I’M NOT KIDDING. IT HAPPENED TO MY FRIEND ONCE. TWICE. DROPBOX IS YOUR FRIEND. CARBONITE IS YOUR FRIEND. EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES ARE YOUR FRIEND.
Now that I’ve made that PSA…
I don’t have a normal artsy-fartsy “time for Darren to tell you what to do” post today.
Nah. Instead, I’m going to sit here and tell you stuff about me that you don’t care about.
My Goals Are Coming Along Awesomely
I’m usually pretty down around this time of year because February is infamously the month where you fail all of your New Year’s resolutions and realize you’re another year older without squat to show for it. I’m still fat, but my book is coming along well, and for once, I’m actually right on schedule.
Looks like this current draft of “TBA” will be finished by the beginning of May and my word count goals will be spot on — which is very, very awesome. Look man, knocking 100k from a manuscript without ruining the heart of the story is hard, but I did it, and I’m so glad.
Once May hits I’ll be taking two weeks off to do a quick draft on “AoM”, then will go back to read “TBA” once more before giving it one more edit sweep before sending it to Beta-Readers. Once the Beta-Readers have the big book, I’ll be going back to “AoM”… and hopefully, with some luck, “TBA” will be query ready by September and “AoM” will be query ready by December.
That’s about all I gotta say this week.
